Heard an interview with a few years back, he's done loads in football. Interesting bloke and a great player for us back in the day I thought.

I think I read in Tony Gales autobiography that Butler took over his weekly column in the Newham recorder after he had been reprimanded for being to candid.

Had to look at westhamstats
He played a handful of games in Aug/Sep then was sold to Notts County in Oct 1994 for £350,000 which is double what we paid for him
From what I can see we had bought Moncur that summer so presume he was on the outer

Proper West Ham player, always 100% committed.
I remember reading a post-match report stating that Vinny Jones was complaining about his tackles to the referee!
Sadly, I can’t seem to recall much about his departure, did he play much in our first season in the premier league?

Loved him as a player. At their best, him and Robson and Keen were pure magic as we romped to the title. Such a pity that none of them really went much further than that special season in League Division 2 (or had it become the Championship by then?)

Met him a couple of times in the 1990s when he was on a part-time Management Course at Havering College whilst still at West Ham. Seemed a decent bloke and smarter than many. As a player he was reliable rather than spectacular. Certainly, he went on to have an interesting career in coaching.

Butler has been globetrotting as a coach for many years, decades, now. OK not made the big bucks, but has stayed in football and no doubt has a few stories etc. Fair play.

I seem to remember Ferenc Puskas complimenting Peter Butler when he came for a visit.
I was surprised he moved on so quickly.
